About Us

Statement of Faith

  • God's Word, The BibleWe believe that God is a loving, supreme being who wants to be involved in the everyday events of His creation through our having a personal relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ.
    • 1 John 4:9
    • Romans 5:1
    • John 10:10
  • We adhere to the Bible as the inspired, written Word of God and thus to be recognized as the final authority concerning salvation, morality and all things relating to who God is.
    • 2 Timothy 3:16
    • 2 Peter 1:20-21
    • Matthew 4:4
    • Hebrews 4:12
  • The Spiritual needs of all individuals are common. We have all been born with a sinful nature and can never by our own goodness appease a Holy God.
    • Romans 3:10, 23
    • Titus 3:5-6
    • Ephesians 2:8-9
  • It is through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and faith in His blood, that reconciliation can take place.
    • 1 Peter 1:18-19
    • Acts 20:28
    • Ephesians 1:7
    • Revelation 5:9
  • Without heartfelt repentance and acceptance of this fact, man is destined to be eternally separated from the God who has given His all for us.
    • Luke 13:3
    • Matthew 7:13
    • John 3:16
    • Galatians 5:19-21
  • By being "born again" we have new life in Christ Jesus and are adopted into God's family- The Body of Christ.
    • John 3:3
    • 1 Peter 1:23
    • Galatians 3:26
    • Galatians 4:5
  • We will pursue the sharing of this gospel with everyone God brings into our lives, so that they will have the opportunity to experience this life-changing relationship for themselves. For without this spiritual re-birth, there can be no successful long-term changes that take place.
    • Mark 16:14
    • Ephesians 4:24
    • 2 Corinthians 5:17

In the summer of 2003, four people began meeting together to discuss the concept of an organization that would meet the needs of area residents concerning home related issues.  Shelby County Community Outreach, Inc., an independent organization, was formed in February 2004 by these four local residents and their spouses as the Founding Board of Directors.  Twelve months later, 501 © 3 tax exempt status was issued by the IRS to the young organization and direct services were begun on a very limited capacity.  Now, SCCO operates on a full-time basis in five key areas of ministry:

  1. Small home repairs and maintenance
  2. Hero's Attic Used Home Furnishings
  3. God’s Helping Hands
  4. Temporary/short term housing
  5. Community service projects
Not representing any particular church or denomination, SCCO seeks only to promote the person of Jesus Christ and His ability to change lives.  It is through these 5 key areas of ministry that we are able to connect with people on a personal level and touch lives of those around us with the love of Jesus.
